Greeetings and welcome to Calafia's Spring Potrero War, 2010!
There have been a lot of changes to the website and to the Potrero procedures and policies this year, so make sure to take a good luck around to make sure you aren't missing any crucial information.
NEW THIS YEAR: starting in 2010, there will be 3 different noise curfew zones at Potrero War, ranging from 11PM to 3AM. Please take a close look at the land allocation camping map to see where these new quiet zones are. These quiet times will be strictly enforced, so please take this into consideration when you are choosing a camping spot. Land Allocation Map - Quiet Zones
Additionally, the Potrero Map has changed a bit. The camping area known as Bedlam has been relocated to the area formerly called North Shore. The area that was previously Bedlam has now become Baronial Row, and will be open ONLY for Baronies, Shires, Cantons, Colleges, and Strongholds. No other Campers will be allowed in this area. There have also been some significant changes to the site rules and regulations. On site, you are responsible for complying with all site rules and regulations, so please make sure you are familiar with them before you head to the event.
Ants: The park is being treated for ants before the event starts. After the event starts, it is the responsibility of each individual camp to address any ant problems they are having. The war staff will be unable to assist individual camps with ant problems, and the exterminating company will not be doing touch-up jobs once the event starts. As such, we are recommending that all camps bring their own commercially available ant-abatement products, such as Raid, etc. These will also be available in limited quantities at the Potrero Store.
Showers: New this year, there will be a shower truck located at the Stone Privies in the Bedlam/The Brakes camping area!
There are many diverse activities and events scheduled for this war, including A&S, heavies and rapier combat, archery and thrown weapons, youth activities, and special events. Check back often for updated information.
If you are new to the SCA or to Potrero War, there is some helpful information available on the chatelaine's page regarding the scope of the SCA period, costuming tips, and how to get more involved in the society.
